Her Story
Meditation and movement facilitator. Emerging eco-dharma teacher. Award-winning community leader. MSc in psychotherapy. Philosopher poet-in-residence. Sense-maker. Stargazer.
Part 1. Beginnings
I’ve always been a seeker. My childhood was spent between library shelves and desert stars; a bookworm who lived in a caravan.
In 2007 I graduated with a degree in International Relations (yep, heal the world kid), majoring in Language and Linguistics. After years globetrotting, I came home and took creative writing course at RMIT, which began a long career in the arts.
As a performer, and producer, I created full length stage shows, intimate interactive installations, and large scale public events which featured at Brisbane Writers Fest, Womadelaide, QLD Poetry Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, and more. I worked as Associate Producer and Artists and Events Manager of Adelaide Fringe for many years.
Part 2. Roots
Eternally driven by an innate curiosity about philosophy, nature, and the human mind, I drifted deeper into yoga and meditation practices, becoming an E-RYT500 YACEP senior facilitator, and studying extensively with world leading teachers including: Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach, Sarah Powers, Georg Feuerstein, and Insight Meditation Institute Australia.
In 2016, with my partner in business (and love) Triton Tunis-Mitchell, we opened Human.Kind (then Power Living), on unceded Kaurna Land in Adelaide, S.A. This has become a platform for movement classes, therapies, education, and belonging for a vast community that spans the globe.
My daily life still orbits this heart-home where I run courses, trainings, and retreats, as well as pursuing social, environmental and spiritual activism. We are proud to become the first certified B-Corp in the health and wellness industry, and in 2022 I received South Australia’s 40 Under 40 Award.
Part 3. Today
Today, my practice and study is focused on the contemplative sciences and traditions. Informed by Theravada Buddhist lineage, and modern secular practices including MBSR, MSC, and Interpersonal Neurobiology. I am an emerging Australian dharma teacher in the Insight Meditation community, completing a 4 year mentorship program with Australia’s most senior teachers.
Alongside this, I’m completing a Masters in Counselling & Psychotherapy at Adelaide University, through which I hope to blend authentic scholarship with embodied practice in my ongoing group work.
In 2023 Triton and I launched a new landcare and community health project at Myponga, Kaurna Country, S.A: The Circular Initiative. Here we hope to model a regenerative collective future, and hold space for ecological and spiritual engagement.
My artistic practice has returned to writing and performance - as the current Poet-In-Residence for Nature Festival, Compassion Revolution, and the Bob Brown Foundation.
I aspire to keep living in the confluence of creativity, spiritual inquiry, and activism. Poised gracefully on life’s tightrope of beauty and chaos, offering wisdom and solace to all beings in our tender and beautiful world.
